Who knew that a small country like Cuba would be a big threat to the United States. In 1959 a Cuban leader called Fidel Castro gained control to rule the gonvernment his way. He overthrew the old style government. Castro turned Cuba into a communist country. In 1962 was the Cuban missle crisis. Castro was mad that the U.S were interving in thier businesses so he purposely allowed the Soviets to build a nuclear missle base in Cuba. This was a big threat to the United States becuase only Florida is 90 miles away from Cuba. This would be soo easy for the Soviets to throw a missle to the biggest cities. Also in 1962 president Kennedy demanded te Soviets to remove all thier missles from Cuba. The Soviets agreed and said it would be allowed for an exchange that the U.S would not invade Cuba.

Well, since Fidel Castro came into power so did communism in Cuba. Like Soviet Union, they both believed in communism and had problems with the United States. President John F. Kennedy found the spreading of communism as a threat and did send spies and tried talking with Castro about changing the government. Fidel Castro didn't like what President Kennedy was trying to do. So, Cuba let the U.S.S.R. set missile sets there. This became even more of a threat to the U.S. since Cuba was only 90 miles away from military base in Florida and the U.S. otherwise. This kept the U.S. from invading Cuba. Finally, the U.S. and Soviet Union came to an agreement that if the U.S. would not bother Cuba, then the Soviets would remove their missiles which occurred in 1962.

I would argue that the Cold War affected Latin America in about the same way it affected the entire 3rd world. Many lower class were easy targets for communist propaganda and likewise any poltical manuevering they attempted was seen by Washington DC as communist revolution. If you consider Cuba part of Latin America then that opens up an entirely new can of worms following the Jan 31st 1959 takeover by Fidel Castro which eventually led to a Socialist government. The saying goes, "any enemy of my enemy is my friend", which was why we supported and trained such names as Saddam Hussein and Osama Bin Laden when they were fighting against the Soviets or their "allies".
Castro was angry that the U.S were going into thier business so he purposely allowed the Soviets to build a nuclear missle base in Cuba. This was a huge threat to the U.S becuase only Florida is only 90 miles away from Cuba. This would be really easy for the Soviets to throw a missile to the biggest cities. In 1962 president Kennedy ordered the Soviets to remove all thier missles from Cuba. The Soviets agreed and said that it would be allowed for in return that the U.S would not takeover Cuba. This is the role of the cold war in latin america.

Since Fidel Castro gained power in Cuba in 1959, the United States was in grave danger. That's because Castro turned Cuba into a Communist country, so he turned to Soviet Union for help. Both Cuba and Soviet Union had problems with United States, so Stalin asked Castro if the Soviet could build a missile. They build the missile at the base of Cuba and it was a biggest threat to the United States because it was only 90 miles away from Florida. President Kennedy was furious about the Soviet and the Cuban was doing. So in 1962 he demanded the Soviet to remove the missile from it's location, but the Soviet and Cuban wasn't willing to do so; If the Unisted States and them come to an agreement. The Soviet wanted the Unites States not ever invade Cuba andlet the Cuban government run it's own country the way they want and the Soviet will remove all the missile from the location. This is what happen at cold war in Cuba (latin america).

The soviets were thinking smart, that they if they come a little closer to us then they will have a better chance to winning if a war started. But little do they know that U.S. is just as clever as them. Soviet Union placing missile's in Cuba was nothing too much. Cuba is a very weak a little country. Us can easily capture Cuba and destroy all the missiles that are there. So the main plan of the soviets was to place some nuclear missiles in Cuba just in case a war starts this was all because of the cold war, the controversy going on between U.S. a the soviet union. Eventually U.S. found out about the soviet plans with their spy planes. Their counter plan was 1st they said thy would like to just talk this out and get over it. If that doesn't work then they would setup a air and naval blockade of Cuba so there is no shipments going out or coming into Cuba , and last if that doesn't work U.S. would order an air strike to destroy the missiles in Cuba.So the outcome of this is that the soviets end up agreeing under the circumstance that U.S. would not invade Cuba. But meanwhile other little things went on that kind of triggered a war but actually a war did not start.

In 1959, Fidel Castro rose to power and took control of Cuba, a country only 90 miles away from the coast of Florida. Fidel Castro turned Cuba into a communist nation. The United States felt that democracy was the best type of government. In 1962, the “Cuban Missile Crisis” took place. The United States felt like it was up to them to influence Cuba to change to democracy, so Castro gave permission to the Soviet Union to build a missile base in their nation. The United States felt threatened because Cuba was so close to the coast of Florida. Because of this, the United States (President Kennedy) promised not to intervene in Cuba’s business in exchange for the dismantling of the missile bases.

Fidel Cstro gained power in the year 1959, he fought to rule the government his way, which many argue was the best thing that occured to Cuba in a long while. Castro re-modified the country into a communistical state of authority. In 1962, the Cuban Missle crises occured, Castro was irratated at the U.S so he purposfully let the Soviets build their missle base in Cuba. Now the problem that America faced was that Florida was 90 miles away from Cuba, so a surprise attach could reek it's havok any day.

In 1962 president Kennedy ordered the Soviets to remove all their missles from Cuba. The Soviets agreed and said that it would be allowed for in return that the U.S would not takeover Cuba. The U.S agreed and so the peaceful ending came to all parties involved.

Cold War in Cuba [Lating America]

As soon as Fidel Castro became a president of Cuba, he turned to Soviet Union for help. Soviet Union decided to help Castro, so they build a Nuclear Missle in Cuban Territory. [All this happened because America tries to control everybody.] So the Nuclear Missile were a big danger for US since Cuba is located 90miles from Florida. President Kennedy decided to talk to Cubans and Soviet Union, he demanded that they will remove the missiles. Soviet Union have agreed, but only if USA will never attack or try to rule Cuba.

The soviets were very intelligent. They thought that going into Cuba and placing missiles there, it'll be alot better. It would've been a pretty good idea but it backfired on them. U.S. couldve invaded Cuba because cuba is a small country and was pretty weak at the time. The U.S. played smart as well when they placed missiles in a country near Soviet Union. After this the soviets agreed to remove the missiles from Cuba as long as U.S. agrees to remove their missiles and they cannot invade Cuba as well.

After World War II, rapid industrialization, and population growth led Latin American nations to seek aid from both superpowers. American businesses supported leaders who often oppressed their people, but who protected U.S. interests (Fulgencio Batista). When Fidel Castro became dictator he nationalized the Cuban economy, and took over U.S. owned sugar mills. In response, President Eisenhower ended all trade with Cuba. As a result Castro turned to the Soviet Union for the economic and military aid he needed. The failed Bay of Pigs invasion convinced the Soviet leader, Nikita Khrushchev, that the United States would not resist Soviet expansion in Latin America. In July 1962, Khrushchev secretly began to build 42 missile sites in Cuba. U.S. President, John F. Kennedy, declared that missiles so close to the U.S. mainland were a threat. He demanded that the Soviets remove the missiles. U.S. troops assembled in Florida, ready to invade Cuba. Finally Khrushchev agreed to remove the missiles in return for a U.S. promise not to invade Cuba.
